Election Prediction: I hope to eat some crow. But I doubt it.

Bodrum, TurkeyWell, well.  The time is finally here.  In a way I’ll be glad that it’s over.  As much as I enjoy elections and have since I was about 8 years old.  So what is going to happen?  I don’t know.  A year ago if you’d told me that Donald Trump would be the Republican nominee and would be in a virtual tie in the polls with anyone named Clinton the night before election day, I’d have told you you were crazy.

So what is my prediction?  That I was right the last time I made a political blog post.  Hillary Clinton will win the election.  By the skin of her teeth!  Donald Trump has out-performed what I (and a whole lot of other people) thought he would do by a long shot.  It is an amazing movement he’s created.  But I just don’t see that it’s enough.

It all comes back to immigration.  He recklessly promised to deport 12 million illegal aliens.  While that sounds like the right thing to do it is not.  Because it would require a huge increase in the bureaucracy and be much too cost prohibitive.  And then there are the social problems it would cause.  He wisely backed off of that but I think it’s too little too late.  If the polls are right, Hispanic voting is way up and most of that number is going for Clinton.  Take that out of the mix and he’d have a chance for a landslide.  If Hispanics just keep a couple states in the Clinton camp, it’s all over.

I do think Trump is going to get some states that the Democrats consider a lock.  I do think that there will be some surprises.  But at the end of the day, I stand by my earlier prediction.  He will lose.

Trump was not my first nor my third choice.  I think my guy Rubio would win the election handily.  But I have jumped on the Trump train and hope that I have to eat crow tomorrow evening.  Or maybe even the next day if it’s that close, which it very well might be.  Trump has grown on me.  I think he’s an honest man who cares about this country.  I think he has the business sense to figure out how to run the executive branch.  I think he will be a strong leader.  And I think that it will be an utter disgrace to put Hillary Clinton in the highest office in the land.  The only thing I can feel good about is that she will most certainly be better than Barack Obama.  Especially in his second term.  It has been a real disaster.  I also think that her legal troubles are just starting.  It’s going to be a long four years.

I’ll say it one more time:  I HOPE TO EAT SOME CROW!  Go out and vote and make me do it.
